History of Baker Slot Machines

A large demand for remodeling and updating slot machines developed after the war. Two of the largest firms which rebuilt and recased old machines were Baker Novelty and Buckley Manufacturing. Harold Baker, a former Pace employee, had made counter games before 1941, then rebuilt slots during the war. In 1945 they began recasing early Mills machines with their own case which also closely resembled the 1935 Mills MYSTERY BELL. Since their case was painted black, the machine was dubbed the BLACK BEAUTY. After the Mills JEWEL BELL came out they began casing early Mills machines in their own JEWEL BELL castings. Besides their bell line, Baker also rebuilt PACES RACES machines, eventually building their own version called BAKERS RACES. Back To Baker
