1950 Mills Hightop
Recently, I visited Squires, & Corrie after finding it's location in San Mateo, on the internet. I own a pristine 1950 Mills nickel Hightop slot machine, but was missing the coin box, trademark decal, and also was looking for a shop manual.
I'm a retro guy, I love my 1949 Olds Rocket 88, 1950 88 sedan, and my daily driver, a 1970 El Camino with it's 383 stroker engine, and 4 speed Muncie. My home, and shop are full of fun stuff from the 1950's, like a big game room. So, I appreciate unique things especially mechanical that were built in the USA, of quality. Well, nothing I've seen prepared me for the thrilling experience, as I entered this establishment on 373 Claremont street!
It's a time capsule, a museum, and anyone that loves old slot machines must visit. I was greeted by Ed, as I entered, noting old slot machine glass faces decorating the walls. Rows of Mills, Jennings, Pace, even a Sega I noted. I asked about the items I wanted, and met Steve, who gave me a tour. With all this stuff, they were very organized, and knowledgeable. We passed rooms for restoration, sandblasting, painting, and assembly, the Doctor was in! And parts, I mean PARTS! Unbelievable the amount of old parts to restore these classic machines to their former beauty.
Well, I came home with my coin box, trademark decal, and a pictorial assembly manual, with a smile on my face. I thank Squires, & Corrie for their cordual help, I'll visit them again, they are a wealth of knowledge.
